iQ1200 Radar Speed Sign Installation Guide

Overview

This guide provides detailed instructions on installing the iQ1200 Radar Speed Sign from TraffiCalm. Follow these steps to ensure a correct and safe installation.

Installation Steps

Pre-installation Preparation

• Familiarize with Bracket and Connection System: Understanding the setup of the bracket and connection system before installation simplifies the entire process.

Mounting the Sign

1. Remove the Bottom Bolt: Start by removing the bottom bolt from the clamshell bracket at the back of the sign. This allows the sign to hinge out and slide up, freeing it from the pole-side bracket.
2. Secure the Pole-Side Bracket: The pole-side bracket is compatible with standard mounting hardware. Secure it using either four 3/8-inch bolts on 9-inch centers or one-inch bands. Ensure it is fastened tightly to the infrastructure.

Connecting Power

1. Access the Power Connector:
   
   • With the sign in a hinged-out position, remove the four screws holding the service panel to gain access to the power connector.
   • Be cautious of the edges in the hinged-out position to avoid pinch hazards.
2. Connect to Power Supply:
   
   • The power connector is plug-and-play compatible with all TraffiCalm AC and solar power supplies. Ensure that all fixtures are installed tightly to maintain a watertight seal.

Finalizing Installation

1. Secure the Sign:
   
   • Hinge the sign down and reinstall the bottom bolt through the clamshell bracket.
   • The system allows for the addition of a padlock or long shank lock for tamper resistance.
2. Power On:
   
   • Once powered, the sign will turn on and begin detecting active traffic.

Configuring the Sign

• Access TC Speed Connect: Once the sign is installed and powered, download TC Speed Connect to configure the sign for the specific roadway conditions and requirements.
