S-Box Controller Setup Guide

S-Box Controller Setup Guide

Overview
The S-Box series controllers, including the CTLS and CLBS models, are designed for robustness and the ability to handle large-capacity batteries and solar panel units. These units are ideal for more complex integrations or to withstand extreme conditions. They provide increased battery capacity and are built for demanding requirements, making them suitable for side-of-pole mounting with easy access and integration.

Applicable Models

  • M75-SA300-CTLS
  • M75-SA300-CLBS
  • M75-DE0TS-CTLS

Installation Guide

Planning the Installation

When planning the installation of the S-Box controller or collaborator, consider the following:

  • Cabling Route: All peripheral devices’ cabling should route into the back of the cabinet, often from within the pole.
  • Solar Panel Cable: The solar panel cable routes into this cabinet.
  • Antenna Placement: The external antenna needs a clear view to the next device’s antenna, and ideally, a clear view to the controller.

Mounting the Enclosure

The enclosure’s mounting bracket offers several mounting options:

  • Threaded Holes: Features 3/8” threaded holes placed on 1” spacing for direct application to a Telespar style pole.
  • Banding: To utilize banding, the bracket must be turned 90º from the orientation shown in the provided instructions.

  • Height: Mount the box out of reach to deter vandalism.
  • Visibility: Ideally, mount the box behind the sign to obscure its visibility to approaching drivers. Keep in mind that cable runs will limit where components can be located.

Inside the Cabinet

  • Batteries and I/O Tray: You will need to place two 12V batteries and the I/O tray inside the cabinet. Detailed instructions for this process are included in a separate manual provided with the device.
  • I/O Panel: Accompanying the battery is the I/O panel with four 4-pin connectors and a blade fuse attached. All connections from external devices will terminate at these connectors.

Connections

  • Connections from external devices will terminate at the I/O panel’s connectors. For detailed instructions on making these connections, refer to the Wiring Diagrams available in our support center.
