Installation Instructions

Preparing the Mounting Surface
  1. Clean the Mounting Surface:
    • Use the included alcohol swab to thoroughly clean the area where the flasher will be mounted. This ensures proper adhesion.
    • (Note: Avoid putting the swab in your mouth; the sensation is unpleasant and ineffective.)
Applying the Flasher
  1. Initial Adhesive Application:

    • Peel back the adhesive backing from the top and bottom 6 inches of the flasher. Do not remove the entire backing yet.
    • Align the flasher carefully to ensure it is centered and level with respect to approaching traffic.
    • Gently press the top and bottom of the flasher to temporarily secure it in place.
  2. Complete Adhesive Application:

    • Slowly pull away the remaining adhesive backing while pressing down on the flasher to ensure it adheres smoothly to the surface.
    • The bonding tape used is extremely strong, providing a secure hold that will not easily release.
  3. Securing with Screws:

    • For additional security, use the supplied self-tapping screws to further anchor the flasher to the post.
Connecting the Flasher
  1. Wiring the Flasher:
    • Route the wiring lead up to the Collaborator or Controller.
    • Connect the wiring to the Flasher B output.  (see wiring diagram)
Configuration Tips
  1. Setting Flash Patterns:
    • For optimal visibility and compliance with FHWA’s MUTCD, configure the flashers to flash in unison at a 1 Hz/sec rate.
    • While alternating flash patterns (using A and B outputs) can create interesting effects, unison flashing is recommended for consistency and effectiveness.
